First of all i'd like to say happy vaisakhi! and a big thank you to sikhnet and the moderators of the site. Anyway I've recently been thinking and become abit confused about my keeping of pets. I have been a vegetarian since a very young age of 4/5 trying to become a better vege or vegan as i age (now 20)....however i keep 2 dogs both of which are big and eat canned meat from pig, chickens, lamb etc...Is that wrong i mean i'm not suggesting i make my pets vegetarians as it is instinctual to them (1 may refuse vegetarian food until death) ...but does it mean despite being a vegetarian im still carrying a extra burden of karma everyday (although im trying to avoid it)???
Thank you and happy vaisakhi!

Happy Vaisakhi. Animals are carnivores by nature, not by choice. Humans are carnivores by choice in this day and age. You do not take on karma by feeding your pets meat. It is a disservice to animals to treat them just like people or Sikhs. Guru ang sang,
