Greetings and blessings to you. The Siri Guru Granth Sahib and the Sikh practices are the ways and means for a Sikh to gain peace and mastery of their life. It is a modern perspective having been only formulated 500 years ago. Also, the issues that you have mentioned are not moral issues for us as Sikhs as much as they are practical issues. We respect life and treasure the values and relationships of the family.

The issues are however social and legal issues for those wishing to control. Our teachings are for guidence and expansion rather than control.

Our guideline is that as creations of the Infinite Creator, we are a part of the Creator's perfection. We are living this life to realize and live in the constant awareness of our connection with Infinity. This realization gives us great power and support.

If a person is a homosexual, that should not deter them from having a spiritual connection with their own soul and their Creator. We do not believe in homosexual marriages in the Gurdwara. Homosexual marriage is a legal contract not a spiritual contract.

There is no problem with abortion. This is not a religious issue but a personal or practical issue that involves the life and health of the bearer and the born. However, we do not condone the abortion or the killing of the borne child because it is a girl.

Euthanasia is a practical issue. In most instances in the Western world, people are kept alive through aggressive and advanced medical measures to prolong life. Many Sikhs live in underdeveloped nations where access to equipment and technology of prolonging the life is not available. Sikhs do accept death as a part of life and do not fear it. Our soul does live on beyond this physical body.

God bless you, SKKK
