Summary of Question:Pray Or Just Fold Hands?

I have noticed, at the temple, that some people fold their hands and sit for a few seconds/minutes before or after bowing down infront of the guru granth sahib. my question is, generally what's going through their head when they fold their hands infront of the guru granth? do they do a quick prayer for themselves, do they say something? i've always grown up just bowing down and putting my hands together for a second and walking off without a clue of whats going on or what it all means. if they are doing a prayer....what can i do that's appropriate? thank you veryy muchh.

(REPLY) Sat Nam. An educated guess would say that probably people are praying when they sit with hands folded in front of Siri Guru Granth Sahib. But i certainaly can't say what goes on in anyone else's mind! And neither can you! The relationship between a Sikh and the Guru is a personal matter! I do believe it's very appropriate, and certainly wise to take the opportunity to offer a prayer when you're in the Gurdwara. Or, you might even just repeat the Mul Mantra while you're sitting. God bless you and Guru guide you. SP
