Summary of Question: | Am I Still An Amritdhari If I've Broken The Sikh Code Of Conduct? |

I've been an amritdhari since I was 20 & am 28 now. I was a moderate in practising my banis and was a veg too. However due to pregnancy, I stopped being a veg till now. As result I've been taking food in the local restaurants and eventually I would get my food with some meat(halal, as being in muslim country) in between the meal. This would make me ask myself that should i stop eating or if i do continue by taking out the meat from the meal, am i no longer an amritdhari? I consider food is god given & throwing it is wrong.
Secondly, I have not been doing my banis regurlary, however i try to recite my banis as often as possible but i've not succeeded. Have i broken my amrit coz i just talked to someone who is not an amritdhari yet but told me that i'm no longer an amritdhari as i've broken the code of conduct.
I am lost now coz all i know is amrit is unbreakable.
Please shed some light to plight.
Gurfateh Ji.

Being an Amritdhari Sikh is not convenient. Living to one's commitments to the soul never are. I rarely eat in restaurants because I usually cannot find good vegetarian food. There are certain things which are very set in our code of conduct as an Amritdhari Sikh. One can slip a little on reciting one's banis...but things like being a vegetarian, being monogomous in marriage or celibate single, not drinking, smoking or drugging are not flexible. There is nothing wrong with re-evaluating one's commitment and if it is there, take Amrit again. Feeling guilty does no good. Just learn from the past and recommit. Blessings. GTKK
