Summary of Question:Should Amrit Be Taken In Haste Even If It Means More Of The Pop Will 'Look'sikh?

Many young sikhs that I know or know of (I see them around university campus) are amrittari sikhs. Many of them wear dustars and others wear a patka but I bear witness to so much hypocracy. Some young men tie their patka in a half hazard fashion so to look more desirable, perhaps? and others I have seen secretly have girlfriends who are white or chinese and further more some amrittari young females keep dustars or cover their heads with a romal but they wear jewellry and makeup and they remove facial hair but they still choose to maintain that they are truer sons and daughters of God than those who are sagtari. I am deeply offended by the very sight of this. Although I am sagtari myself I believe that if you choose to take amrit it should not feel like a sacrifice. You should feel priviledged that God has given you the enlightenment to take on such a path of honesty, love and enrichment. I would rather that parents allow their children to explore the beauty of sikhism on their own through unbiased teachings

and untainted philosophy of the gurus instead of forcing their children to bear an exterior that is in direct conflict with their inner emotions because it is the image of these young sikhs that distorts the perception of true sikhism that is yet to be found by many of today's westernized youth.
Thank you for this space to write how I feel. Please think about this carefully and do not discard of it. It may prove to be of great use to many youths who are confused about their true sikh identities.
