Category:Other

I am a senior in college now, but I am doing very bad. Every semester I always say to myself I am going to do good, but then I get the same results. Everytime I have a poor performance. I have tried many ways but none of them work. Now I am in a deep hole. After I graduate, I have no job and no where to go and nothing to do. Everyday I ask Waheguru why this happens to me. I don't know why it happens to me. I study so hard day and night but nothing happens and I just fail. I always feel like giving up because I work so hard and I have nothing to show for it. I need help.

I don't know what country you live in. This point is meaningful, because different cultures and different countries have varying educational systems, varying educational methods, and varying educational goals. And defintely, different countries have varying educational resources and opportunities.

In western countries, it's likely that education has been more influenced today by behavioral and psychological insights. The point is that it has recently been discovered or diagnosed that many people are affected by what are called <learning disorders, or disabilities>. What this actually means is, that different people learn in profoundly different ways. Human intelligence manifests in profoundly different ways. One of the drawbacks of classical, academic education is that colleges tend to promote only intellectual and verbal learning. And, the benefit one can draw from this insight is, that if one is not particularly suited to academic or book learning, it doesn't necessarily matter very much. It is in every person's best interest to discover just how he, or she, learns best. This, in turn, can guide us toward where to specialize and focus our learning and performance goals.

The word <Sikh> means student. But it doesn't specify which particular area of life we are to concentrate our learning. Human excellence comes in many, many forms. If you can find ways to meditate, or meditate on Gurbani Kirtan, your mind can open up more to its own innate gifts and potentials. Allow Guru to guide you to help and resources. Allow Guru to guide you to a discovery of where your gifts and best talents lie. They may not necessarily be in the academic or professional realms. Never buy into the academic or professional ego trips that only academic or professional knowledge is valuable. That kind of ego is only a fantasy that serves no one.

Feel blessed. Feel the intelligence of God within you, and get to know how it is that God lives and breathes within you. That lesson can reveal everything else to you, just in the way that you need. Don't feel down or disappointed. You may be trying to live up to artificial expectations created by someone else (other than God and Guru). Then allow Guru and God to support you to excel in just the way that is right for you.

Humbly,
Krishna Singh Khalsa
