For Sikhs, our Gurus are our true role models, every Sikh tries as much as possible to follow their Guru, so for a Guru Sikh, what ever the Gurus did was right and the path to follow. for some Gur Sikhs, keeping long unshorn hair is a way to discipline them selves while forr others it is the Divine Command of our Gurus. Eg. when at school,you are told to wear a uniform and you do. in the Sikh Faith you are told to keep KESH and you do. you can only trully experience the power in Kesh when you yourself keeps it unshorn.
