Hi,

I wanted to know why we have to hold our hands together during ardass.

The other question was:

When the ardaas is being read out, why is there someone cutting it and when are you suppose to cut it (during which line).

Thanks Samreet

Greetings, Samreet Ji - We place our palms together during ardaas because it creates a mental state of neutrality by connecting the energy of the left and right sides of the body (positive and negative). When you put positive and negative together - it creates a neutral. The hands are in the center of the chest, which stimulates the vagus nerve and produces a response from the pituitary gland. The mind becomes neutral and we become centered so we can focus on the flow of our prayer at the ajna - the third eye point. The sweetness of the Gur Prashad is blessed with the strength of the steel at the time that we give thanks for Guru ka Langar and Guru Prashad at the end of the ardaas. If Guru Prashad is to be distributed, Anand Sahib must be sung.
