The teeyan festival is a festival that the women of Punjab engage in celebrating the coming to the Monsoon. They put Menhdi(henna) on each others hands, bangles on the arms, sing and dance. It is a very culturally enriched celebration. You could find out more about it from the Dept. of Cultural Affairs, the Govt. of Punjab. The Punjab Govt. has a website.

Hi, Ive asked a couple of questions on this site before and the answers that I have recieved have always been helpful. I don't think this relates too much to questions that should be asked on this, but it is just out of curiousity. You have probably heard of the Teeyan Festival. I went to the mela some months ago and have always tried researching information about it. If you know anything about this, please email me and let me know. I just want to know things about its history, purpose, etc. If not, can you please inform me of any websites you might know of that can help me with my research??

Thankyou very much
