various stars and planets and existence of planets cannot be denied. Is there
any mention of this in Shri Guru Granth Sahib other than superstition and other
Hindu rituals ?

Dear Jagdip Singh Ji,

Astrology is not a Hindu ritual,( exclusively) it has been a practice not entirely associated with Religion. For instance the Incan Civilization used astrological events to predict the coming of the Europeans to South America. The Egyptians used it, The sumerians used it and these cultures arguably go back 6000 years. Let me put it to you this way and we'll see if it makes sense to you : just as the moon affects the planet and how it moves so do all heavenly bodies affect each other. The Sun's gravity keeps us in our Orbit and so on. If the moon, sun, etc have such an effect on the Earth and we are on it, is it not safe to say that it will have an effect on a person as well. The interpretation of this cause and effect is the science of astrology. How this affects your every day life becomes pretty obvious ( if one day for instance you are being pulled upon , however faintly, by Jupiter it might affect you in a way to give you a bad mood) of course I am simplifying it, I'm sure it goes much deeper than this, but this is to give you a basic idea. The problem with the art of astrology is just that, it has become more of an art than the science it really is. People use astrology these days in order to make money off of people who just want to hear something positive. The problem is that it can affect the way you think about your life. People forget that no matter what the situation you can change it. I myself personally do not like most astrologers, because they tend to group or generalize. I do however enjoy hearing things that might happen to me or whatever. The thing is that there are really few astrologers who really know what it is they are talking about and who are accurate, when you find one they are fantastic. I'am very sorry Jagdip Ji but I cannot remember what the Shri Guru Granth Sahib has to say on the subject, but I have heard that it is pointless to listen to them as everything is the will of God and that your mind should be Focused on Wahe Guru. Thank You for your question.
