Summary of Question:Origins Of Yoga

Hi, I read a previous reply by a moderator to a question on why Sikh gurus did kundalini yoga and other Yogas and was surprised by it.

There is no question that Yoga is a hindu practice , however non-hindus practice Yoga as well. Yoga is to hindu as reading the Granth Sahib is to a Sikh.

Yoga is a 5000-year old way of living. Sage Patanjali - known as the 'Father of Yoga' wrote down his knowledge in the compilation, known today as 'Yoga Sutra'.
. The Rig Veda mention the philosophy of Yoga, the Upanishads explain the traditions of Yoga and the Ramayana and Mahabharata deal with Yoga as a form of duty.

It would be false to deny the origins of Yoga just because Sikhs and Hindus have terrible relations nowadays.

Thank you. You are right it is incorrect to deny the roots ... however I do not think we have terrible relations... only a few people behave is an undignified manner making noises. Lets both work to make things better.
