Summary of Question:	Different castes?!!

Hi, this will probably sound stupid to you but I still don't understand this different caste business?!! I'm a Jatt, and my best mate is tharkan.

Is there some website or book where it tells me all about the different castes?
Is it really relevant what caste you are...I mean a Sikh is a Sikh, that is all that should matter!!!

The Caste system should have nothing to do with Sikhism. It was rooted out by the Guru's and has been sneaking back in for years.
I am American born and we have one really good thing here. Everyone has an equal chance to be as great or as nothing as they want. When I hear about caste in the Khalsa Panth it sounds like a comedy. I can't even believe people would fall for such a stupid idea. What if one of the Gurus was the wrong caste? The sikhs would look down on him? How bizarre can you get?
