Here are a few references I have found in Siri Guru Granch Sahib Ji to Dancing. I agree with the reply you previously received, however, that people would not appreciate dancing in the Gurdwara before the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. It would be considered distracting to our purpose in Gurdwara, where we are focusing on absorbing ourselves in the sound current of Shabd Guru. Therefore dancing before the Siri Guru Granth Sahib would be viewed as irreverent and disrespectful.

Dancing such as bangra or celestial communication, is elevating. These dance forms serve to transmute passion into divine expression. The following references to dancing are according to the English Translation by S.S. Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa. Two of the references talk about dancing being done in a healthy, constructive way, and one of the references talks about dancing being done in a destructive way.

Maj Mehala Third Guru, Page 124, Line 19
The Gurmukhs sing, the Gurmukhs dance, and focus their consciousness on the Lord. ||1||Pause||

Maj Mehala First Guru, Page 142, Line 11
Intoxicated with power and thrilled with wealth, they delight in their pleasures, and dance about shamelessly.

Maj Mehala Third Guru, Page 121, Line 18
Let your true and perfect tune be the subjugation of your love of Maya, and let yourself dance to the Shabad. ||3||

Thank you for writing. Humbly, Gurumeet Kaur Khalsa
