Summary of Question:SIKHISM IN THE NEW MILLENNIUM
Category:General Sikhism
Date Posted:Wednesday, 3/29/2000 2:02 PM MDT

WHY ARE SIKHS SO DIVIDED? IT WOULD SEEM THAT NO ONE CARES ABOUT OUR BROTHERHOOD. WHY ARE PEOPLE SO INDULGED IN BEING JAT TARKAN AND SO ON? WHAT MAKES ME SICK IS WHEN I SEE OTHER RACES SO FULL OF UNITY WHERE AS MY OWN SIKH SISTERS DO NOT BOTHER. I REALLY THINK THAT WE HAVE TO CHANGE. MY LOCAL GURDWARA IN LEYTON IS NEARLY EMPTY ON SATURDAYS. OUR VAJA LESSONS AND PUNJABI CLASSES HAVE STOPPED. THERE WAS VIOLENCE IN GUR GHAR OVER COMMITTEE. THE GATKA TEAM WAS MOVED AND NO ONE COMES. WHY SO MUCH GREED OVER STATUS? WE USED TO HAVE A PHOTO UP OF SANT JARNAIL SINGH JI IN THE GURDWARA AND NOW THEY TOOK IT DOWN. WHY SO MUCH FEAR FOR KHALISTAN? WHAT WILL BE DONE ABOUT THE 40 SINGHS WHO WERE KILLED?WHAT ABOUT THEIR FAMILY? WHY CAN WE STOP BICKERING AND DISCUSS THE FURURE FOR THE NEXT GENERATIONS? PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTIONS AND TELL ME HOW WE CAN RESOLVE THE COMMITTEE PROBLEMS. VJKK VJKF MERI JEET MERI JAAN KHALISTAN KHALISTAN.

You might as well ask why did God create the Creation. There will always be disagreements and strife, that is the design of the Universe. If you will meditate and read from SGGS it will help your own inner peace.
Perhaps you could take your questions one at a time and see if there is something you can do personally about them. If so, then start. You will feel better if you are acting to help rather than just watching.

p.s. Other religious and ethnic groups have plenty of inner turmoil and disagreement. Don't be fooled. Keeping something together is much harder than destroying it. You have power, use it.
