1) From philosophy, a being must eat something to sustain itself. Animals eat plants and other animals. Humans can eat other humans, animals and plants. The difference between humans and animals is that humans are able to think and understand the difference between humans, animals and plants. We know that we must eat something so we *should* choose to eat the lowest form of life, i.e., plants.

2) Meat is an unhealthy option. There is more than enough nutrition in an indian style vegetarian life than humans need. Meat eaters have a higher chance of various health problems, including heart disease and colon cancer. Vegetarianism is a healthier life style.

3) Many people claim that since the Guru Ji's ate meat they should be able to as well. This is an incorrect conclusion. The Guru Ji's did a lot of things that we do not understand because they were at a higher level of conciousness. If you can claim to be at such a high level of conciousness and claim to understand nature and God in the same manner that the Guru Ji's did, then *maybe* you can make that argument. But most people are not and thus don't understand why the Gurus did somethings (like eating meat).
