Summary of Question:Akhand Patth And Sahaj Patth????
Category:Sikh Practices

I am 17 years old GurSikh. I completely belive in Guru and do Patth

everyday. I read books on Sikhi all the time and while reading a book
called Bipran Ki Reet I read that Akhand Patth is Bipran Ki Reet. I don't
really believe him but I sure want to know how did Akhand Patth and Sahaj
Patth start. The author wrote it different way which is kindda impossible
for me to believe in. Can someone please tell me when and how did it start ? I know there is one way which is doing Patth everday and when Guru Ji comes just ask him the truth. But the problem is this question sometimes comes in my mind which doesn't let me meditate. I just totally wanna get rid of it. Meeting Guru Ji is not impossible but sure is hard work. If I don't find any answer then I will have to do it this way harder than I usually do.

Greetings and blessings to you in the Name of God the light of every soul and in the Name of Guru the life of every Sikh.

Dear one, your question is not clear. An Akhand path is a continuous non stop reading of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. It may take 2 to 3 days and requires a number of people to do it.

A Sehej Path is a complete reading of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib but you can do it for however long as you need....it is not continuous. You can read as little as 1 hour a day or even a page a day, and plan to complete it when you like. You can do your own Sehej Path and read the entire Siri Guru Granth Sahib, for example in 2 months.

The Siri Guru Granth Sahib IS the Guru. The words of the Shabd are for you to understand. The experience of the Guru is to give you your own experience of your own Spiritual identity. Forget about trying to see a Guru. Feel the God and Guru within you. You are a part of God and the Siri Guru Granth Sahib is your guide to your own divinity.

Turn off your mind and experience your heart. Try doing this exercise for the next 90 days. Read the English translation of Jap Ji Sahib (http.www.sikhnet.com/s/gurugranthsahib) on Sikhnet under English translation. Read it out loud to yourself every day as a meditation. Listen to the words as you speak them. Understand the words. Practice will give you an increasing absorption and understanding as the days go by. It will open up your mastery and the deep wisdom and guidence of the Guru will speak to you and give you a deep understanding of life.

God bless you.
