Singh means "Lion". Sikh women take the name of "Kaur" which means princess.

Have you ever been to the jungle where Lions live in their natural habitat? Lions are the "King" of the jungle. They fear no other animals and sit proudly and quietly unaffected by the goings on in the wild. To be a Singh is to be a king. This is a metaphor from God's Kingdom of animal life.
