Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa

Waheguru Ji ki Fateh

Hello,

In our religion we have the saying, kam karodh lobh moh hankar,
this means we should control lust anger greed attachement and pride.
What is attachement? and How do we control or prevent it?
And I also don't understand why we have to control pride. Isn't pride a good thing to have. Good to be proud of your backround and culture.

Thank You
Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa

Attachment is the feeling that something in the creation is real, and you want to have it with you. It can be an emotion, a person, a thing, or something else. Attachment causes pain because all things, people, feelings, etc. will detach from you eventually. You will be left with only the self again.
Actually, you can't really beat attachment. It was built into you as a human. It is better to re-channel it. What you should do is be attached only to things that don't leave you... That is your soul, Naam, God. Same with the other sisters.
Be angry at your lower nature. Be greedy for Naam. Lust for the union with the One. Have pride in your Dharma (not your own ego).
