Yes, Sikhism is opposed to Suicide. As Sikhs we believe that we have certain karmas to clean, lessons which have to be faced, a mission to live. We have had lifetimes and lifetimes- there has been a progression from one to another. If we commit suicide, we are interrupting that process. Do you want to go back to being a stone? Committing suicide is playing God. It is not up to us to decide our time of death or how we are to die. In most cases, suicide is a cowards way out. There are cases where some one is in extreme pain from cancer or some other disease. Maybe there could be a compassionate suicide, but who can decide that? Maybe that suffering will liberate that person from lifetimes of karma...and then they will be freed forever. The best is for us to face our life with courage, creativity and the Guru to guide us along our way. GTKK
