Why do some people say "seek" instead of "sikh". Is it because they are embarresed that it sounds like "sick". Because in gurbani there is a siharee not a biharee. -Thanks

Sat nam. Maybe it's for the reason you describe. Maybe it is just a westernization of the word anyway. There are many words that have 'westernized' from Indian dialects, for example: "mantr" is mantra in proper English, and 'jog' is yoga in proper English. Pronouncing 'seek' vs. 'sikh' is not such a big deal, so long as those hearing it understand what is being said.
