WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH
Dear Moderators,
I need to bring something to your notice, and would want your suggestion as to is this an act motivated by bias or am i looking too much into it.
Today i read the episode of Kimveer Gill a 19 yr old youth who shot some people dead in Canada. This is no doubt a tragic incident and it was reported by one of India's leading newspapers The times of india. Now the issue i have is they mentioned "A man from SIKH origin" when refering to kimveer gill, where they could have simply said a man from "india origin". Now i strongly feel if this was done by a person of hindu faith they would have simply mentioned an NRI from Indian origin, which they did not do for kimveer.
Please guide me in this regard however if you think i'm right in thinking so please help me voice my anger and opinion.
Thanks & Regards,
Simranjeet Harbans Singh

This kind of thing happens all the time in the news...a person of Hispanic origin or Native American, etc. The best thing is to write an editorial to the newspaper and make it generic, i.e. "fin response to your identifying a person of Sikh origin, it is my opinion that identifying one's "origin" is not necessary and only adds to misunderstanding, prejudice and discrimination. In this time of much misunderstandings. violence and war, we all need to work on bridging gaps and encouraging peace through understanding"...or something like that. GTKK
