Wahe Guru Ji Ki khalsa Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh

for the past two years, i feel as if there is no point in living. i have no purpose in this world, and at times i feel very depressed and alone. i have no one to talk to or tell my problems, because i cant trust anyone, and who ever i tell my problems of depression, they always tell someone else and gossip about it. i try so hard to be accepted by everyone else and i live around everyone elses happiness. i cant concentrate on my grades or anything. i fail at anything that i attempt to try. i feel so lost and hopeless in this world, and i feel like having god taking me in.

(REPLY) I am sorry to read your posting, and to know how much you are suffering. It is very possible that you are suffering from a medical condition -- I think they call it "clinical depression." Sometimes glandular imbalance can cause the kind of hopeless, defeatist mood that you describe. I urge you to get a medical check-up. Also, find a counselor at school to talk with, and stop telling anyone else how you feel! People who are not trained in this area, especially young people, can be very thoughtless and cruel, and so if you want to avoid the gossip, keep your feelings to yourself -- except that when you bow to the Guru in Gurdwara, ask Guru to take your pain! We really don't have anything of value to offer the Guru except our heads, and if we can do that, and totally surrender, we can finally find out what God's will is for us in this lifetime. Your life is a very precious gift that God gave you. Every time you inhale, it is proof of God's presence in you. Suffering sometimes is part of life for all of us, but to the extent that that is all you are experiencing, I think it's too much, and you need help. Please don't give up! Here's an affirmation that I have found very helpful to repeat: I am beautiful; my soul is bright and shining; my mind is clear and effective; my body is only as God wills. I am healthy, happy, and holy." Here's the thing: your subconscious believes whatever you tell it! So the more often you tell yourself you are miserable (even if you actually are) the worse it gets. So, instead, tell yourself that you are wonderful and successful! And that opens the door to that actually happening. Meanwhile, ANG SANG WAHE GURU affirms that God and Guru are in every atom, every cell of your being. Repeat it, recite it, use it: believe it! (And go get a medical check-up!) Don't despair. Find someone or something where you can serve and help. This is one of the best ways to feel good about yourself, when you do seva -- helping , serving others. Blessings, SP
