Summary of Question:Covering The Head And Removing Shoes A Hassle
Category:Sikh Practices

i respect every religion, but i have full faith in my religion (sikh religion).i have been to the church, mosque, hindu temples and gurudwara with my friends. it is little uncomfortable to remove the shoes, to cover the heads and sit on the floor in the gurudwaras. while in church you don't have any restrictions. Still i respect all these restrictions because i think there must be some reason behind all these rituals, which i don't know or i don't understand. but most of the time i wear heels and by taking my shoes off dress does not look good. Also usually i have nice hair style and by covering the head it messes up my hair style. Believe me i love all the people sitting there on the floor with head covered and without shoes.

Sat Siri Akaal. Is it more important to you to look good in gurdwara or to be in the company of the sadh sangat? Covering head and removing shoes are both signs of respect for Guru. It is the Sikh way.
Perhaps dress more simply and wear your hair more naturally. Beauty is only skin deep. It is how you develop your character and serve others that shows one's inner beauty. Use the opportunity in gurdwara to chant and sing with sangat, and let go of your pride.
Guru ang sang,
