Hello. The quality of ragis and keertan overall seems to get worse everyday. I am a firm believer that the guruji's set shabads in rags so ragis do the keratan in rags. It seems that some ragis come just for money. I believe keertan should be done from the heart with 110% effort. The effort is where many ragis are lacking. I think many ragis don't practise enough and that being a ragi is an honour that should be given to only that deserve it. There are still a few ragis that do the keerrtan with effort and heart, but their is nothing like the keertan of 15 or tweenty years ago. I would like to hear what you think about this issue. Thank you for your time.

(REPLY) Sat Nam. It is a great privilege and blessing to sing Guru's words. How, and with what consciousness individuals do it, is their own karma. You obviously are sensitive to hearing and appreciating what you perceive to be heartfelt kirtan, and I, like you , wish that all kirtan would be offered in that spirit. Other than that, what can anyone say? We can't really "judge" what is in another's heart. May God and Guru bless you. SP
