hi my name is gurjeet. i would like to know what the names Parveen, simarpal, shaminder, jaskiran and gurjeet mean. also, i heard that ur name has some relation to ur life/ destiny. if that is true, could u plz tell me what these names have to do with our lives? thanks

(REPLY) If your name was chosen by meditative process (following an Ardas, the name was found in Siri Guru Granth Sahib -- or for some of us western Sikhs, given by our spiritual teacher) then it represents your destiny! I believe that Gurjeet probably means the victory of the Guru, since I think jeet means victory, and of course "gur" is Guru. (But I could be mistaken!) Try looking up these names in a Punjabi/English dictionary, and possibly they will be there. We don't have anyone at SikhNet doing that research. sorry. Blessings, SP
