Summary of Question:Why Nirankaris????
Category:Other
Date Posted:Thursday, 9/12/2002 1:26 PM MDT

I've been reading up on questions written about the Nirankari Religion, and how you refer to them as "neo-nirankaris" and "fake nirankaris". I am a sikh, but i do know quite a lot of this religion from association of other people. From what i understand, and trust me i know quite a bit, this religion has absolutely nothing to do with the sikh religion. Yes, their are some similarities, but they are a completely different religion, and when i spoke to many its members, they say they have the utmost respect for the Sikh religion, they have nothing against it, nor do they want anything to do with it. Why are you bashing this religion? They are good people that are minding their own business. From posted responses I have seen that you do not know much about their religion at all, so please, why do you speak against a religion you have no knowlegde of?? Your making them out to be evil, horrible, people against the sikh faith, but they are really not. I have been to their congregations, and I have never heard the word "sikh" spoken, or anything of relation to the sikh religion. Why are you doing this to them???

Sat SIri Akaal. I very much appreciate hearing you on this. We do not mean to pick on nirankaris. Many of us moderators have had some experience with them as a kind of Sikh offshoot, for want of a better term, but as Sikhs we don't bow to human gurus. So this leaves us wondering where they fit in.... I would be very grateful if you could recommend websites or book titles that would explain nirankaris truthfully as to who they are and HOW THEY VIEW themselves! If you can, please post a reply as "RE: Why Nirankaris?" If there is one thing this site seeks to do is give correct information! Thanks so much. Guru ang sang,
