Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

I asked a Punjabi University professor about this--he teaches Sikh Studies and has for 30 years. He said that to every father, his sone is a sahibjada, and he can call his daughter sahibjadee, whether or not the child is baptized. He says he has done this with his own son.

HOWEVER, for a Sikh to call his son or daughter by this title means that they want to cultivate the SPIRIT of the 4 sons of Guru Gobind Singh in their son or daughter. It is not just any title. The child being called this must also be taught the spirit of courage and sacrifice that the 4 sons of the 10th Master exemplified.

Really, we must not be fanatic over such small matters that serve only to divide panth Khalsa rather than unite us in Guru's vision.
