Sat Siri Akaal. You bet it's OK. Over the centuries, women and men have both fallen into roles that some consider to be unbreakable. Women as cooks and cleaners, men as car and machine fixers. Whatever, you name it.

It is important to know how to do both. While it does not have to be your lot in life to be the sole cook/cleaner in your household, know HOW to cook well and know HOW to keep a clean and cozy home. You will be glad you do. When it comes time to find a husband, make clear what is important to you, such as his willingness to help around the house. Make sure he knows how to do these things before you tie the knot. However, if you think you will end up living with your inlaws it is unlikely that you will have help from your husband. Of course, another alternative to doing it yourselves is to hire it out to a maid/cook, butler, whatever. There is nothing in Sikhi that says women have to cook and clean, and men do not!
