Sat Sri Akal Jee,

I just wanted to ask a question about the soul entering the body. In the reply to this post, you said that the soul enters the body on the 120th day after conception. So the baby is "soul-less" before this. If so, is it ok to have an abortion before the soul enters the baby? There is no life in the baby so you are not killing, preventing life? I dunno, i'm a little confused.


Also, I'd like to add that the kind of questions that have been posted are really good! Especially, over the past couple of weeks. Its really making me think. We are discussing sikhi from many different view-points and from many different aspects. I think that this is really good and, hopefully, this wil make us all strong in our faith.

(REPLY) In my opinion, you have answered your own question. There is no "life" in the womb, just some new flesh, until the 120th day when the soul enters. It is unfortunate if anyone has to have an abortion. Abortion is to be avoided --primarily by avoiding sexual intercourse until one is married. Abortion does not destroy "life" until the soul enters.
