Guru Gobind Singh Ji did indeed used to hunt animals. But Guru Gobind Singh Ji was also a very enlightened being. After years and years of meditation, we are capable of knowing things that we would otherwise not know -- He had much more knowledge than most people can ever dream about having. In fact, if you meditate for only one month, you will start to notice a difference in your life.

Instead of looking at the things that baffle us about the Gurus' practices, look at the good things they did that you can understand and start following them. When we reach a higher levels of understanding, then we can see the logic behind the Guru's actions. Just like a child does not understand how a car works or how to even drive one, we do not understand this life until we follow the Guru's words (Shabad) and meditate on the one true name.

Gur Fateh,
HSD
