Waheguru ji ka khalsa,

Waheguru ji ki fateh.
Sir/Mam,
My name is Gagandeep singh . I am going to be 19 yrs old on 7th july.I would lke to tell u that i used to trim my beard and after going through your website and knowing all the importance of hair and what it stands for i have stopped trimming and also started reciting japji sahib and rehraas sahib with Waheguru's grace. I have plenty of hindu friends, many times we come from college together and we stop at a temple to pay our respects ,I do not mind going to a temple being a sikh because i see my "waheguru" everywhere , my friends too do not mind coming to gurudwara, infact they visit gurudwara regularly with their families .last year i had a hard time with my studies.so one of my friends gave me a locket of saraswati(godess of knowledge and wisdom). saying that it would help me with my studies. Many people at the gurudwara told me to remove it , but what i say is that i am not interested in hinduism nor do i feel to convert, but i do have a respect for it . I am a faithful sikh.I feel that removing that locket will either hurt the feeling of my friend or in a way i would be like disrespecting his faith. Please help me and do mail me
Thanking you.

(REPLY) Sat Nam! Guru Nanak taught us to respect ALL people, all religions, all castes and colors and creeds! He was - and is still - a universal Guru and your attitude certainly reflects his teachings. Congratulations! We sometimes wear pictures of our family in lockets, so why not a picture of a representation of one of the many aspects of the One God - as portrayed by Saraswati? It's obvious you are not "worshipping" this picture, so I don't see a problem with your continuing to wear it. I hope this helps. May God and Guru continue to bless you with firm faith in your Guru, and universal acceptance of others! love, SP
