I think you gave a very great answer for that young persons question. However please note that it is also important to mention this:

Just by bowing before SGGS, you cannot become liberated or united with God.

Bowing is about humility and love. Only when you actually have the humility and love in you - which bowing is all about - then God is realized.

People bow for show, and bow for wealth, and bow only in certain directions, but the most humble and love-filled Namaskaar, done for the sake of only appreciatation of the Divine, this is the one that is most pious.
