I have had a very ruff ride with life and most of my years I have been a very unhappy person. I used to visit the temple once a week and then stopped going for a few months, last week i went and i had a urge to get up and get out of there yet a part of wanted me to sit there and feel at ease but i just couldnt, i dont understand why?

Sat siri akaal. This is a manifestation of your depression. I am hoping you are under SOME KIND of medical care beyond mere diagnosis for this condition. It is nothing to be ashamed of. It is a disease of modern society, but help is available! See a medical, homeopathic or naturopathic doctor and also get counseling, if you can.
As for gurdwara, go and stick it out. Your higher self--your Soul wants you to stay, but your lower self is in reistance. Honor your soul and be in the vibration of Guru and Sangat. Recite the kirtan and chant the naam in gurdwara, this will also help you. If you can, recite at home too. Guru ang sang,
