Thanks for bringing the issue upfront on discussion forum. Though it's a sorrowful issue but anything pertaining to gursikh life style or related problems are better to be discussed before action taken.

As you believe and live in maryada of guru sahib, you should not afraid of anyone in this world. Benevolent Satguru has blessed you with a wonderful life and no one can take it from you. Join your job without hesitation because you might not get same in this recession. Try to be smart while working with person of adverse lifestyle than yours.
If at anytime you feel that its going out of control take help of 'Department Of Civil Rights'. There is a Government cell working to preserve your rights in every state in US. You can complain against a person under 'LAW Against Discrimination' (LAD). LAD prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, sex, marital status, ancestry, nationality, affectional or sexual orientation, familial status, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, and liability for military service. The law protect individuals against discrimination in employment, housing, public accomodation and certain business transaction. If you belong to different state you check for same LAD. Every state has it and if you still cannot make any progress contact above number ans ask about LAD at your place. These guys are very helpful in protecting civil rights.
