First of I'd like to say wat a wonderful job u guys are doing on this website.

Ok, I feel kind of silly asking this...but here goes...I'm 17 and I dont know how to cook...You know how indian girls are supposed to learn things so when they get married their in-laws wont say, Oh this girl doesnt know how to cook or take care of the house. The problem is that I'm willing to learn but whenever my mom tries to teach me we always get into an argument and then I dont feel like doing it. I'm worried because soon I'll be entering college and I wont have time to learn and then of course my parents are probably gonna say its about that time when u get married. And I dont know wat to do. I always get into an argument with my mom whenever this subject comes up. She always says if u dont learn then when u get married u wont know anything and ur in-laws will get mad at her for not teaching me. But we live in a modern world now and I dont think that it wud be that much of a big deal. I know this question was kinda silly but if u could gimme an answer to my problem I'd be thankful.

(REPLY) Sat Nam. Your question isn't silly, but I don't quite understand what you and your mother are fighting about, if you are trying to learn from her how to cook. You need to try to learn from her without arguing. Sounds like you're the one making it difficult. However if you can't control your words, then I suggest you take a course in Home Ec (Cooking classes in school or privately are available in the United States for sure, and I hope wherever you are.) Or ask an Aunt or Cousin to teach you. Or go on line and find a cooking class on the internet! Good luck. SP
