i recently married into a gursikh family (i my self am a gursikh) and i heard after you have done your kirtan sohila you are not supposed to do anything i.e drink eat act so i wanted to know do you to have sex before your kirtan sohila or after please because this is really affecting my conscience.

Sat Siri Akaal. I have never heard of this. Kirtan Sohila is the last bani done, by Sikhs, and is typically done before retiring, although some Gursikhs I know recite it after they read a late evening hukum from SGGS, when they put Guru in sukhasan. (They do not then recite it again.) My guess is that it's someone's interpretation of when it is appropriate for a Sikh to have sex with one's spouse. There is nothing in the rehit or SGGS that describes when marital sex is or is not appropriate!!! Sex with one's spouse is not a sin!!! I think you and your spouse should decide between yourselves what seems appropriate to you: saying Kirtan sohila before or after making love to each other. Guru ang sang,
