Summary of Question:Turban Ban In Countries

So with the turban ban in Germany and France, I am curious why such is not talked about in gurdwaras here in US. As Sikhs, losing such a right in those European countries, maybe one day things can happen like that in US and Canada? How come not much uproar is being made? Seems like nobody is furious over this, nothing seems to be done to promote sikh identity it seems like and no pride. Sikhs (keshdari sikhs) seem to be living alone in every part of the world it seems and only gurdwara is seeming to be the place where they can feel ok and not alone. From getting taunts from everyday people in society, to turban banning by governments, being ridiculed in movies (hindi, american- ex. "dysfunctional family"), it is really getting hard to be keshdari and turban wearing Sikh.

Maybe nothing is happening in your area...or maybe you are not aware of it...but here in our community in New Mexico alot is being done. People are not ranting are raving and talking about it in Gurdwara speeches...but behind the scenes a lot is being done...like letters and petitions to the French Government. Talk to the leaders of your Gurdwara and see if something needs to be done in your area. You know, the best is acknowledging the "Power of One." If you feel strongly about something. Discuss it with others and evaluate what can be done. Go do something. Instead of blaming others, complaining that nothing is being done or waiting for someone else to do something, go do something yourself. Evaluate what you want the outcome to be and how it can best be accomplished. Keep in mind that your expectation may not be accomplished...but you can take the first step and be a part of the process of change. Patience is a high virtue. Blessings. GTKK
