Summary of Question:	Double Standards In The Sikh Community

How come Sikhs tend to be stricter on Sikh males when it comes to Sikhi than they're to Sikh females?

I have noticed in a lot of Sikh families that males wear turbans while the females cut their hair, do their eyebrows, shave their legs etc.... but yet, Sikhs don't mind seeing their women doing such thing. How come it isn't an issue when a female cuts her hair, but it isn't okay for a Sikh male to do the same?

Then people wonder why many Sikh girls are losing their touch when comes to sikhi and converting to other religions.

Another Question: Since we are talking about double standards here, I like to ask is why are Sikh women not allowed to do kirtan and seva (I think) in Harimandir Sahib?

The life style of our Sikhee is the same for all.
It seems that the cultural practices of not expecting the women to wear hair and turban and live rehit is the same disrespect as not allowing women Jatha's to play kirtan.

For us in the USA, who have adopted this Sikh lifestyle, we expect the same for girls and boys.

So, the cultural practices of India need not be passed on to the West in regard to practice of Sikhee. Our women train our children and thus the standards are set for the future. You can do the same and you are.
