Nanika (also spelled Nanaka)is a feminine variation on the word Nanak. It is common in Indian culture to name one's first child after someone in the mother's family (a maternal name), and and so Nanak comes from the Guru's mother's side. The roots of the word Nanak have an original meaning of "One" or "Undivided."
