Summary of Question:Helping A Friend Get On The Path Of Sikhi
Category:General Sikhism
Date Posted:Sunday, 10/24/2004 12:37 PM MDT

I have this friend that I really want to help to get on the path of Sikhi. I've tried talking to her about the religion, about the many beautiful things it teaches, but she refuses to listen. I've tried to make her go to the gurdwara but she refuses to go. She does not want to have anything to do with Sikhi.

I really believe that she could learn to love Sikhi if she just gave it a chance. I want to help her, what should I do?

Sat Siri Akaal. Do nothing! Pray for her that she recognize the Divine in her life, but don't ask Guru to make her Sikh. Not everyone is meant to be Sikh, and Sikhi is simply not for everyone. Let her be. 9th Guru died on behalf of a HINDU'S right to worship as Hindu, not a Hindu's right to become Sikh. Whether or not she believes in God or worships is her business and her CHOICE. WHEN and IF she is ready to listen to you and consider Sikhi is HER business, not yours.
The other thing to do is live and ACT like a Sikh in all you say and do. Set a good example. Your example will serve her no matter what she chooses. Guru ang sang,
