Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh.

I am in abit of a predicament …… please could you advise.

I come from a typical Punjabi back ground, not knowing anything about sikhi till a few years ago (I’m 30 now). Since then I have been coming more and more to wards sikhi….I even kept my kesh a few months ago. I don’t know any bani yet and only do the mool mantar (it’s the on thing I know off by heart). I also have learning difficulties so find it very hard to do any kind of study, but I still want to persaver and learn my nitnem even if it takes along time.

I don’t know If I’m ready for amrit yet, even though I think about it a lot (also feel abit scared of it).

Here’s the predicament: Some one is suggesting girl for marriage who is amridhari …….. In order for me to marry her I would need to take amrit....

Can you advise ……………. I don’t want to take amrit for the wrong reason ?

Taking Amrit because of a marriage possibility is definitely the wrong reason to take Amrit. Wait, allow your practice to grow naturally. If you take Amrit and decide it is not for you and get married to this woman before you know if the life style of zan Amridhari is for you, well, you are setting up a very untrusting situation. Be sure within your self first, without the pressure of anyting or anyone else. Don't worry about marriage. It will happen when the time is right...when you are ready. Relax and enjoy your newly discovered joy of Sikhi. Blessings. GTKK
