To all my sikh brothers and sisters and sadh sangat in general,

my question is (and i'm not here to offend anyone and if I do by mistake then please forgive me and I ask the same from God as well) that I know by historical facts that after Guru Gobind Singh Ji the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is enthroned as guru, but my one simple question is that if there could be ten living gurus then why can't there any after that? and if not, then what could be the reason besides the obvious.

Please let me know as I'm just curious.

(REPLY) Sat Nam. The answer to your question is quite simple. First, Guru Gobind Singh specifically instructed that henceforward there should NOT be any more human Guru, but rather only the Word of God as embodied in the Siri Guru Granth Sahib should be worshipped as Guru. If you think about it, it is obvious that each of the ten human incarnations exemplified different aspects of divinity, so that all Sikhs could use them as patterns to follow in our lives, and these examples were completed by the Tenth Guru. One of the most powerful and wonderful things about our one and only "Living" Guru is that it is not subject to any human illness, it can never die, it can never leave us, and our Guru is always available to all of us at any time for guidance and inspiration! Why should we worship any man? We are here to experience the God and Guru inside each and every one of us, and by reciting Guru's bani, by chanting God's Name, we have that precious opportunity in this lifetime. SP
