Summary of Question:Amrithary Marrying Non-Amrithary
Category:General Sikhism
Date Posted:Tuesday, 3/29/2005 5:54 AM MDT

To date was not aware that if you are an amrithary you have to marry an amrithary. Recently I to spoke to someone who was amrithary and took amrit at Ananadpur and said that he will only marry someone who is amrithary, because thats what he was told when he took amrit.

Is this true? and does everyone who takes amrit get told to do so?

I would be grateful, if you could answer this question.

(REPLY) Sat Nam. I have heard that in different places, different Panj have given different instructions in addition to the basic standard requirements. I do not believe that the requirement to marry ONLY an Amritdhari is standard. (Though it is ideal to do so!) SP
