Is the gurbani a guru?

(REPLY) Sat Nam. We sing, "Bani Guru, Guru hai bani." So, yes, if you understand the meaning of the word "guru" to be the teacher, one who takes you from darkness to light. Of course, our Ten Gurus and the Siri Guru Granth Sahib are our Gurus -- but notice that the SGGS is a SHABD GURU in other words, the sound current, the WORDS incorporated in the volume can teach you through your reciting them and listening to them. Gurbani Kirtan using excerpts from these enlightened words, spoken by men who were in a state of Divine Union with God do the same. SP
