After meeting some sikh friend and their families, I've been reading about sikhism and I fell in love with sikhi. I think those who were born sikh could consider themselves lucky and blessed. Now, I have the feeling of truly wanting to embrace sikhism, and the desire to be a good sikh. I have no doubts about it, but how important is it for sikhims having a punjabi heritage? What do punjabi sikhs or indian sikhs think about western people who embrace sikhism?
I actually live in a hispanic country, and I've been trying to see in there's a sikh community in Mexico city, because I know how important it is to integrate to a community for the learning process, but I haven't been lucky in my search. The contact you have in you webp page no longer exist, so if you know anything about the sikh community in Mexico city and the Gurdwara I would appreciate if you let me know.
Thanks
Claudia

No, you do not have to be of Punjabi heritage. I am a Sikh and I am Anglo, raised a Christian. In my Twenties, I converted to Sikhism. Some times converts make better devotees, because they don't take their path forgranted and they chose it, instead of feeling like they just inherited it. At some point everyone has to evaluate what path is best for them, whether they were born into it or not. Bless you. GTKK
