------

You are absolutely right to force yourself to NOT eat meat. Our mind is a trickster. It will try to confince us to do all kinds of self-destructive things. Part of being a Gursikh is to learn how to command the mind. If you can master the mind, you will have mastery over your life. What distinguishes us from so many other lifestyles is our discipline, so we can train ourselves to be masters. A Sikh is a warrior. Even Guru Gobind required that his army mastered their minds and bodies before they went into battle. Today, we don't take up arms, but we still have to battle the maya of life. Master yourself, so you can be free of the external forces which pull you away from your soul. The most important reason we should be doing the practices of Sikhism is to develop our relation with our soul. Guru is with you to help you keep up, if you allow it. There is a saying, "If you take one step toward the Guru, He will take 10 towards you."
