I am married for 3 years. I don't have any kids. My husband has 3 kids from previous marriage . We got married in Iran by Islamic law in there. We are both Iranian. We never got certificate of marriage in U.S. I want to get a divorce. Is our divorce going to happen by U.S. divorce law or not?How we can start if we don't want to go back home to do that.

Thank you Saideh

I was not clear about where you are presently living. I assume you are living in the US and your referral to home is Iran? I asked my husband about your question. He is a US attorney. He said that it usually depends upon the state in which you live. Generally though, he said that any marriage that is recognized in another country is recognized in the US. He also said that you will need to talk to an attorney in the state in which you live to get the laws of that state and how you can get a divorce. Blessings. GTKK
