Category:Hair
Date Posted:Sunday, 8/18/2002 9:00 AM MDT

Today when I explained to my mum who is very regious that I would not cut my hair as it has be given by God. And we should not disrespect His gift.My mum repyied that it's OK to cut hair as we never hesitate to cut the grass and the bushes which are also produced by God. I was left very confused.

So please explain why we people happly cut the grass without thinking of God?

I would appreciate your comments.

Sat Siri Akaal. First of all, grass and hair are 2 different things. There is nothing wrong with thinking of God when cutting grass to create a lawn landscape. Indeed, all green things like grass and bushes are created by God, as is all what else we see! Grass serves a purpose for Nature and for humanity. Human hair serves humanity only.

Your mum is trying to match apples with oranges. Keepig long hair on our head serves a purpose, which has been discussed so much on this site, all you need to do is search 'hair' or 'turban' to see. The bottom line: our Guru gave us the gift of keeping our hair and beards. It is a gift from Guru. Isn't that enough?
Guru rakha,
