Summary of Question:	Is It Unlawful For A Muslim To Marry A Non Muslim?

My muslim girlfriend had told me, that koran states (correct me if I am wrong), "it is unlawful for another muslim to marry a non muslim", is this right, I mean, how do I debate this? Could someone please reply, thank you.

Sat Siri Akaal. This is a Sikh website, so you can imagine that we are not conversant in Islam, the Koran, its meanings or its interpretations. I recommend you search the Internet on this or ask your Muslim girlfriend to introduce you to an imam who can explain it to you. Whatever 'law' it may involve is not a law of the state, but a practice of the Muslim faith. As with any faith and its religious practices, the interpretation of this Koranic phrase, or its observance, may be one thing to some Muslims and another to other Muslims. (I mean no disrespect to Muslims or Islam in saying this!)

BTW, I do not understand why "debate" is even an issue. If that is how Muslims believe then who are we/Sikhs to debate another's religious belief???
