Sat"Kal

Could you tell me if it is correct to marry a women who is elder to you. I am seriouly involved with a women who is elder to me by 5 years and is not a Sikh. She is Punjabi Bhramin. This relation is going on for almost two years now. I would really want to go ahead with this relation however, am a bit concerned as to weather our families would agree to is since I come from a very Orthodox Sikh Family, am not sure where this is going to lead to. I share a very healthy relation with this girl and I dont want this poor to suffer because of me. She seems to one of those few women who actually likes turbaned Sikhs and I feel that if we do get married whe would actaully help me in my path towards spirutuality. Please advise, I really dont know wat to do. I have lost my father few years back and am the only son with no siblings, Perhaps You will be able to advise me further, what should be my further course of action.

It is said Guru resides in saad sangat; perhaps the Cyber sangat at sikhnet can show me the right way. Gurfateh.

This answer must of course come from yourself. There is no Sikh code of conduct that would prevent you from marrying a woman who is elder to you.

As with any adult decision, you must consider your relationship to the Guru, to this woman and to your family. Then you must courageously make your decision with compassion and respond to the consequences. I wish you well.
